Spanning over the 20th to the 24th of November 2023, I was given 30 hours to complete a task for a developing game called "Mimic".
Based on my own specialism, my chosen task was around programming. My task consisted of creating a health system for this game including details and mechanics such as picking up health items or effects for when damage is taken/health is regained. Additionally, conducting research on "Mimic" like the game play, environment and story as well as the developing team behind it; "Ryan Laley Games".
My programming task was done through Unreal Engine 5 and captivating on this opportunity, I learnt a multitude of skills to do with the blueprints in UE5 as well as found my own confidence in developing on my own through my use of forums and/or tutorials.
In conclusion, I found my work experience to be overall helpful and useful to me and any future projects I may work on through the strengths and weaknesses I discovered throughout the task.
